Programmed to say...(Matthew 28:11-15)

In no matter what circle we are in, we as people are known for devising a way out and sometimes more than we care to admit, we cover things up. In the below scripture the Chief Priests didn't want to look bad, so they told Jesus toom guards what to say; "You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep". They even paid them off. WOW!!

"New International Version (NIV)
The Guards’ Report
11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13 telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14 If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.

Sometimes in my own life, I bumble along and then I am reminded of a truth, a principle or a value. The above reading has been one of these times. It's a reminder to be honest.

How often do I try to say just the right thing as the Chief Priests did, all in an effort to avoid an unwanted outcome?

The truth is always best, it may be harder initially, but the outcome is always better.
