my comfitiber, the Holy Spirit

What is your comfitiber? As a kid I used to refer to the heavy blanket on my bed as my comfitiber and how its spelt is how I said it. This was a blanket that some refer to as a comforter, a duvet, etc. It made me feel warm and secure in my sometimes cold room in the old farm house where I could also be scared of what may be under the bed.

These days I have a new  comfitiber. Gods word promised his disciples that he would provide them with a comforter.

John 14:16-17  (http://www.biblegateway.com)
King James Version (KJV)
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Sadly and figuratively speaking, I don't always pull this comfitiber up around my ears securely. I don't always use it to its full potential. This comfitiber is the Holy Spirit and he is available to me at all times, yet many times I don't call upon him to guide me, direct me and comfort me. I don't listen to the still small voice.

John 16:7-14  (http://www.biblegateway.com)
New International Version (NIV)
But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you

New International Version (NIV)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

How are you doing with your reliance on the Holy Spirit, that calming guiding voice that says don't go there, or I will be with you in that..........
