Intake....

Over the last year I have thought a lot about food. When I was diagnosed with cancer I asked the specialist what she would recommend for a diet. She said, no processed food, no red meat no coffee and eat more veggies, fruit and fish.
Just what I wanted to hear, NOT, I love chips, steak, bacon, sausage, chocolate and jube jubes, and anything that tastes good. That excludes fruit and veggies.
Anyhow we did set out to change my diet and like usual I started strong and have found it hard to maintain. While I would say I was typical of most Canadians with their eating habits, I have been trying to eat healthier.

Basically what you eat is what is maintaining your internal health, so if I eat junk, there is more probability of my health being impacted. My immune system relies on what I intake.

I believe that this is quite similar with our spiritual lives. If I take in junk, my spiritual life could suffer. My heart, soul and mind rely on what I intake.

I have found that the devil will fight viciously to deter me from daily time with God. He doesn't want me fed and nourished spiritually.

After my wife's illness in 2005 I made a commitment to be more diligent about my daily time with God. For seven years I was blessed with reading through the bible each year (4 chapters a day if your wondering).

Its amazing how God speaks through his word and when we study it is amazing how many things are revealed to us. In our day it has become a practise to rely on a pastor, books etc. Going direct to the source (Gods word) is still the best.

Matthew 4:4

New International Version (NIV)
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
