Part 20 - My little lady's health journey continued...

By Oct 31 my special girl could touch her toes, but still could not put her left sock on by her self, she could put loose fitting pants on by her self. She was able to slowly move the peddles around full circle on the stationary bike for the 1st time, yet another answer to prayer, her leg was making progress.
On Nov 4 we visited her optometrist at her ophthalmologists urging, her vision had improved to between 20/30 & 20/40 in the left eye and 20/70 in the right eye, Praise God, we had so much to be thankful for.
Vision is something we all take for granted, but it provides us with so much of our Independence. It has impacted every thing she does. It also has impacted her confidence. I marvel at how people cope with out vision. My wife's vision is always blurry and she has 2 blind spots including peripheral on her right, and the bottom right corner of her left eye. If I am within 5 feet she can see me somewhat clearly, but due to the blind spots cannot see my whole face in one look. She has to scan. Small letters like that are on a pill bottle require her to seek help reading them. Seeing people at church or in a grocery store is a challenge. People will wave or smile not realising that my poor wife probably did not see it. She does amazingly well with this challenge, but it is a real every day impact from her illness in 2005. Why did God choose to restore basically all but her vision, we don't know, perhaps it was to help us seek him daily.

We enjoyed a good Christmas with family and freinds.

By Jan 2, 2006 my special girl was down to 2 physio sessions per week and on off days was working out 3x/day at home. Her passive left knee bend measured over 100 degrees just before Christmas. She was given clearance on Dec 20 by her ophthalmologist to drive again (Praise God that she did not have to redo her licence). He said her right eye was 20/80 and her left was 20/40 and that she marked aprox 150 out of 160 on the driving field test. Most of the failures were in the right side peripheral vision of the right and left eye. My girls right leg was all healed up by early December, 6 months after her surgery's and home care was only following up on the donor sight biweekly.

It was truly a miricle that God had spared my special girl and then provided her with the recovery she had experienced.
